Introduction

All of us usually incline towards software updates like iOS 14.5. One of the major releases is iOS 14.5. It was released in late April and has been introduced with enough additions to make us revisit iOS 14.

The amazing thing is that it has brought new capabilities to your phone. Let’s explore all of them.

Widgets

Widgets are one of the most significant additions to the update cycle. The update allows users to add widgets in multiple ways. They can be added to the home screen.

From the widget menu that appears after pressing the plus button, you can tap on the sample widgets on the top of the screen or you can simply scroll down for selecting the name of the build-in-app to pick the widget.

Another interesting thing is that more than third-party widgets are available.

App Library

Apple knew how users struggle with certain things. That’s why iOS 14 has come up with the new app library, whose task is to gather all the apps of the phone into one place.

It sounds pretty well in terms of organizing apps too! The top two folders of the library show suggestions, which are based on the apps that you mainly use and when you are likely to use them.

Messages

Some changes in the messages are not major ones but still good for users. You can assign images, whether they are photos, emojis, or Animoji so that you can distinguish one group chat from others.

Moreover, you can send inline replies and mentions. Through this feature, you can reply to specific texts and remove some of the confusion that occurs during the conversation.

Also, you can pin up to nine conversations and can select up to nine, and they will stay on the top of the messaging app.

Maps

The latest edition allows users to report accidents, road hazards, and speed traps. You can tap buttons by manually swiping when getting directions on the map.

If you use a bicycle, there is a cycling option to route the planning. It has more than turn-by-turn directions for bikes. It shows potential stops as well, such as coffee shops and places to eat.

Translation

The new translator has come up with the promise to translate phrases and conversations from eleven different languages. The interface lets the user speak or type words, phrases, and sentences.

You can flip your iPhone and into landscape mode. After that, the screen will split into two parts, representing two different languages. The app can tell you who is speaking which language.

Compact Notification

Call notifications now appear on the top of the screen. You can tap green to take calls and red to dismiss the call. This means your entire phone won’t be taken over by the call.

For launching an app, you just need to summon Siri. It appears in the form of a round icon at the bottom of the screen, and it will show the reply on the top.

Unlocking Your iPhone With Apple Watch

The new version can unlock your phone even if you are wearing a mask. It works on one condition, and that is the Apple watch. You need to type your passcode to unlock your phone.

This means that you can unlock your phone without removing the mask.

Other Noticeable Changes

  • Picture-in-picture video

This multitasking feature has been shifted from iPad to Apple’s phone. You can watch a video and tap a button in the playback window to turn it into a floating window that will follow you as you will move to apps.

Also, you can drag the screen if it is covering your e-mail or text that you are trying to read. This means you can resize the window to a point.

  • Reminders

You can easily make a list of to-dos in the reminder app and share it with other users. The feature is quite similar to Notes, which we were using till now. iOS 14.5 allows you to arrange your reminders by everything from the due date.

  • Voice memo improvements

There is an enhanced recording feature in the voice memos app that promises to improve the audio of your recording by downplaying any outside noise. It is not less than a magical wand on the screen where you edit your recordings.

  • Camera and photo changes

After going to the photo app and tapping the photo you like, you can swipe upward to see a field for adding captions. This means you can add details and memories about your shot.

The camera app performs faster between shots while adding toggles to let you quickly adjust video resolution and frame rate.

  • Revamped weather app

The weather app is just one of the amazing changes that Apple has brought. The users in the USA are able to see a minute-by-minute chart that shows how much rain or snow to expect in the next hour.

Those who live on the coast check the humidity in the air.

Final Verdict

Now, the question arises whether you should upgrade your phone or not. Many users have already answered this question. As per the statement of Apple, earlier 81% of users were running on iOS 14.

It will not be wrong to predict that the users are surely going to go with the updated version. The new release is significant due to additional features and enhancements.

After upgrading your phone, you will start experiencing improvement in the iOS experience. The current changes in apps are thoughtful. Some features like app clips still have to make an impact.

Widgets and app library features are being welcomed by users more and are one of the biggest changes brought by Apple. After introducing iPhone, Apple has rolled out some of the biggest improvements in recent years.

Also, the change can affect Facebook marketers. It will show a prompt that will ask people if they would like to be tracked by third-party apps.

We would like to suggest you go with the upgrade.
